Apache Solr is a powerful enterprise search technology based on the free open source Apache License. Solr has quickly become a capable and popular alternative to commercial platforms, with a big community of developers constantly improving the platform. New features are added to Solr in a continuous and transparent process, resulting in a robust and powerful platform. Solr include open protocols for indexing and search, great control of search flow, quick bug fixing and extreme performance in large distributed search.

We offer consulting, training and implementation of the Apache Solr (and Lucene) enterprise search technology. We also contribute to the platform and offer additional components for implementation such as; document processing pipelines, query processing, search with security and search analytics.

autonomy

Autonomy IDOL enables organizations to understand and process structured and unstructured information in real time. This means organizations can act quickly on all types of information such as audio, video, social media, web content and structured data. A key feature is the Intellectual Asset Protection System for handling access rights of the end-user in repositories such as Active Directory, Notes and Documentum. Global languages (112+) are supported but the technology is basically language independent. It is a cross platform and supports Windows, Linux, Sun Solaris, Free BSD etc. Scalable to handle massive amounts of data and queries with a large connector portfolio that integrate with 1000+ source systems such as web, databases, file shares, SharePoint, Lotus Notes etc.

FAST ESP includes several important features such as a customizable search interface and relevancy tuning. Users will find what they are looking for using conversational language.

  FAST include automatic entity extraction and advanced linguistic features like 
lemmatization, spelling suggestions and synonyms.

There is a large number of connectors available including:
 FAST Web Crawler, File Traverser, Oracle, MS SharePoint 2003, 2007 and 2010, JDBC & Lotus Notes (and more). Configurable content pipelines 

can increase content value with prepackaged and custom modules to improve and organize content when indexing. You can tune the user experience to your specific business with configurable relevancy models, query processing and results processing. The user experience is managed through a search business console.

Google Search Appliance (GSA) is Google’s contribution to enterprise search. Being the biggest and most well-known company in the search domain, Google has vast experience and huge resources for maintaining their search appliance. We have deep knowledge in the functionality of the GSA platform, and have also developed a toolbox of components that further enhances its ability to create search-driven Findability. At the advanced GSA training course in Madrid (December 2011), two out of three members of the head GSA development team considered a presentation of one our Findability solutions the highlight of the week.

IBM Content Analytics with Enterprise Search

IBM Content Analytics with Enterprise Search (ICA) can be seen as more than just enterprise search. With its analytics capabilities, this product could be a business intelligence tool capable of analyzing both structured and unstructured data. We consider the analytics capabilities of ICA to be an extension of enterprise search and this product clearly shows that findability is more the just finding one specific document in an enterprise. 

ICA is a cornerstone in the IBM portfolio. Its capabilities are leveraged by many other IBM products such as ICM (IBM Case Management), EMM (Enterprise Marketing Management) and Content and Predictive Analytics for Healthcare. ICA also uses technology from Watson, the famous Jeopardy winning machine and some time ICA is called Watson light.

lucidworks

LucidWorks is a commercial-grade package to simplify deployment of the Apache Solr search platform. It also brings extra value to the platform by adding pre-packaged and pre-configured features and capabilities. These capabilities include a variety of connectors for systems such as SharePoint, Amazon cloud storage and the Hadoop Distributed File System (HDFS). Other features are enhanced connectivty, parsing and security for content sources.
 
Additionally, more of the Solr functionality is made available via REST APIs. The LucidWorks package also enhace the Apache Solr internal logging and interface to better suit enterprise needs.

FAST Search for SharePoint (FS4SP) is an enterprise search engine from Microsoft and it is used together with the SharePoint platform.

SharePoint Search offers basic functionality such as sorting based on modified date, phonetic and nickname search, person search etc. SharePoint also comes with some standard connectors e.g. the SharePoint connector and File Share connector.

FS4SP offers additional functionality such as document processing where you can create and add metadata to a document. Besides basic sorting it also provides sorting based on managed properties or rank profiles. Word documents stored in SharePoint can be presented with a thumbnail preview and PowerPoint documents with full preview. FS4SP also offers some additional connectors e.g. FAST Search Web crawler, FAST Search database connector and FAST Search Lotus Notes Connector.
